The program will be at a MENA-SINO accredited Centre that has a multidisciplinary team of stroke neurologists, neuro interventionalists, radiologists, neurosurgeons and neuro intensivists that manage stroke patients. Criteria for the appointment of a program director will need to be approved by the graduate medical education department of the sponsoring institution and MACT. The program director will be required to have subspecialty training and certification within the field of vascular neurology awarded either by their own country or internationally recognized body or on the basis of a MACT approved experience certificate of an established practice within the respective field. Additionally, as the MENA SINO region has historical training ties and relationships with North American and European centers portions of the training may be carried out in collaboration with these centers.
Eligible candidates would have to have successfully completed prior postgraduate training and training within the fields of neurology, neurosurgery, or neuroradiology. For Internal Medicine candidates the duration of training in VN would be extended up to 2 years to include additional focus on Neurological examination and neuroimaging in addition to the VN curriculum.
Candidates that have successfully completed a fellowship program from a MENA SINO accredited centre will be eligible to apply for the certification exam. Examinations will consist of a written exam followed by an oral exam that will need to be passed successfully in a consecutive fashion in order to confer certification.
